Endodontics Coburg

What is a Root Canal Treatment?

A Root Canal Treatment is a minor Endodontic procedure. Endodontics is a certain branch of dentistry that deals with the inside of the tooth, this includes the root, nerves, dental ‘pulp’ and tissue. We’re trained in the latest Endodontic technologies at Innovative Dental, and we can ensure the highest level of treatment available.

Inside the tooth’s hard shell is a soft tissue also known as the ‘pulp’ of the tooth. This pulp can become inflamed, and if left too long, can become diseased and infected and may need to be cleaned out in order to save the tooth.

Infections can happen to anyone for a range of reasons including genetics and lifestyle factors. At Innovative Dental in Coburg, our hardworking team has many years of dental experience under our belts, and can help save teeth from decay and infection. During a root canal procedure, we promise that our patients’ comfort and safety is top priority.

A root canal is very straightforward and considered a minor procedure, it’s not too different to a filling. The infected area will be numbed for the procedure while the pulp gets cleaned out. A tooth cannot survive without the tissue inside it, so it will be filled or covered with a crown. This treatment provides instant pain relief and helps keep your tooth intact and healthy moving forward.

What are the symptoms of a tooth infection?

It’s different for everyone, but usually there is pain when you bite or chew, and/or redness and swelling of the gums around the infected site. Other symptoms include lingering bad breath and a bad taste in your mouth.

If you think you may need a root canal, you can book an appointment with us and a thorough check will be done. During this appointment we can discuss with you the best options and treatment for you.
