Dental Examinations

At Innovative Dental, we’re passionate about preventative and holistic dental health care. As such, regular dental examinations form the cornerstone of our approach towards personalised general dentistry, orthodontic, and cosmetic dentistry.

How often do I need a dental examination?

Dr. Naser Eshak of Innovative Dental recommends most clients book a dental check-up every six months. Some people may have medical conditions that increase their risk of developing dental diseases and may benefit from visiting us more regularly.

What happens during a dental examination?

A dental exam is very straightforward, non-invasive, and not at all painful. Dr. Eshak will thoroughly examine both the inside and outside of your mouth, including your teeth, gums, bite, lips, cheeks, and tongue for any sign of infection or disease. Much of the examination is carried out visually, although Dr. Eshak may gently probe your teeth for any signs of decay, and carefully assess the health of your gums.

We also utilise our modern digital x-ray technology to provide us with a clear picture of your dental health. We will take a comprehensive x-ray of new patients at Innovative Dental to ensure we can accurately assess the parts of your mouth that are normally hidden from view. As part of our commitment to holistic dental health, Dr. Eshak also carefully checks the TMJ for any signs of disease.

Professional Dental Cleanings

Professional dental cleanings are one of the best tools we have to help our patients avoid tooth decay and gum disease. During professional dental cleanings at Innovative Dental Moonee Ponds, hardened plaque, bacteria and calculus is scraped from your teeth. At the end of the cleaning process, your teeth are gently polished, which has the additional benefit of removing any surface stains. Finally, Dr. Eshak performs a fluoride treatment to further promote good teeth and gum health.
